Toronto Saracens Women overcome Llandaff North Women 12-5

Congratulations to our rusty yet aggressive women who were able to put a few breaks and hard, straight runs up in the first 20 minute period against the touring side this afternoon's match played at the Birchmount Collegiate field in sunny, warm weather.

The game got a bit scrappy as bodies were falling over the ball regularly and both sides started to get stuck in a bit. Llandaff North's defence tightened up substantially and they managed to put a bit of pressure on the Saracens, bullying the ball up through the forwards, against the wind and the slope of the pitch to score a try on the left wing in the 2nd of three 20 minute periods.

However, an injury requiring stitches in the 3rd period took Llandaff's enthusiasm for the match out of the game, which was called at 50 minutes.

We trust the hosting is going well (the two clubs had just met up around 8:30pm at the Bow & Arrow - and this note is being penned at 9:50pm) and that women of Llandaff North enjoy the rest of their tour here.

While tours and hosting are familiar to the men of the Saracens, this is the first time our women have hosted a touring side! Our thanks to Llandaff North Women for selecting us as part of their tour and our best wishes to the tourists and the rest of Llandaff North in the balance of their season.
